Which vitamins are most important for gym-goers?
Start with: (1) Vitamin D3 — deficiency is very common, especially with limited sun exposure or an indoor lifestyle, and it's critical for testosterone and muscle function. (2) Magnesium — sleep, recovery, and cramp prevention. (3) Omega-3 — joint health and inflammation control. A general multivitamin covers remaining gaps.
How do I know if I'm Vitamin D deficient?
Get a 25-OH Vitamin D blood test at any lab. Normal is 30–60 ng/mL — many people, especially with limited sun exposure, test in the 10–20 ng/mL range. If you're below 30, supplement with 2,000–5,000 IU daily for 3 months then retest.
Should I take a multivitamin or individual vitamins?
Start with a multivitamin to cover all bases cheaply. Then add individual D3 and Magnesium separately — multivitamin doses are often too low for D3 and Magnesium. Omega-3 should always be supplemented individually.
When is the best time to take vitamins?
Fat-soluble vitamins (D3, Omega-3, K2) with your fattiest meal of the day — usually lunch or dinner. Water-soluble vitamins (B-complex, C) with breakfast. Magnesium 30–60 minutes before bed for sleep benefits.
